Spellbinders Labels Seven

Hi Everybody,

Today I have used  the Grand Rectangles to create my base but I have still added the hinge at the top.

Labels Seven  forms the book part  and both of these dies are available from   Save On  Hobbies  ... and you will find a new look to their website along with the new dies.

Scott the owner of the website is inviting you to add photos of any cards that you have made with dies that you have bought from him

All you need to do is upload them and add a little message to say who you are and what you bought to ...... support@saveonhobbies.com

The background is Tapestry and it is such a pretty pattern., and is one of the extendable dies from Spellbinders.

I have added tiny gemstones to it for extra effect ... and they and the Diamante strip are from Want2Scrap

The paper is a digital download from a Funky Hand CD and the die cut words are from Tattered Lace

This idea would suit a card for a Christening, Confirmation or even a Sympathy card and the words that you add to your book could be for any reason.

Just make sure that the book pages you use are suitable just in case someone tries to read them .... if you know what I mean ... and I am sure that you do !!

Using old Zips ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays cards is making use of any broken zips that you have in your sewing box.

They can  very easily be adapted into flowers that can adorn your cards or scrapbook pages.

It was the subject of another video that I did over the last weekend and is another that I hope you will enjoy.

Zipper Roses   can be expensive to buy and you get maybe four in a pack.

But you can pick up zips ... if you don't have any in your box ... very cheaply from the market stalls.

Don't worry about the length of them as they can adapted to suit your every need.

Once the zip is open and separated the long ones will make two flowers from each side ... so from one 20 inch zip you could end up with four flowers for about 90p  ... cheap as chips

The shorter zips can be made more full by using both sides and rolling them together.

You  can either sew them together or use some of the really sticky super strong double sided tape, or you can glue them with a hot glue gun ... but mind your fingers if you do because it burns ... ask me how do I know this ????

Play and enjoy and see what you come up with

Using Scraps ...

Hi Everybody,

Do you have favorite papers that you have used and then end up with lots of  left overs that aren't really big enough to do another card ???

I have lots of these and I cannot for the life of me throw them away.

I have flower making sessions where I will spend the whole day making lots of different coloured flowers and packing them neatly ready to use.

But sometimes I have papers that all blend together and with these I can cobble a card that I am happy with and this is one such card.

These are all papers that I had left over from the projects I made using the Funky Hand CD "Wishes and Kisses"  and I have just cut them into equal squares to fit my card front.

It is made from the Hinged Card style using the Matting Basics and the only other die I have used is the small label form the Radiant Rectangles.

Onto this I have stamped and heat embossed my sentiment from   JustRite

But the card itself is made from the Mosaic Card Tutorial   and I have used a small amount of Gilding Flakes.

Once the Big Double Bow was added and the pearly  Bling  from Want2Scrap ....  I think the card can be said to be finished

The winning name is ....

Hi Everybody,

The week has been devoted to  Funky Hand     and the digital designs that this UK company produce.

These particular papers are from the CD "Wishes and Kisses" and it is one that you will not be disappointed with.

I had only one copy of the disc to "Give Away"   that was very kindly sent to me by Anice the owner and designer of Funky Hand ... and 425 of you want it.

The draw is now closed so    "Thank You" Anice  for this very successful offer and the winner is .......

June Coulson

I will leave this open for one week so please email me as soon as you can with your land address and I will get it sent off to you straight away.

Todays card is using up all the bits I had left over from making the other cards featured this week ... and they are too good to waste.

So for this card I have created panels from three papers that work together and matted them on to a scalloped panel.

Then the three have been added to a white embossed panel  and layered onto a deep teal card base.  To the back I have added a  Card Stand     so that the card can be displayed.

The deep teal ribbon has been added around the panels and the pearly swirl added to add interest.

The banner sentiment is one that can be printed from the CD and made to any size that you need for your card.

More Choices ...

Hi Everybody,

Today I thought I would add some Birthday cards I have made using the CD from Funky Hand

The CD is called "Wishes and Kisses" and one copy has very kindly been donated by Anice for this months "Give Away"

And if you would like to win a copy then you need to add your name to the list ... so click this link  and leave your name and email address.

If you don't have a blog then just leave the URL box blank

The card has been created using the Labels One dies in both the small and the Grand sets.

I have cut the base as a Filigree Hinged Card  and then simply layered all the smaller shapes on top.

And the inside has been lined with the paper and some ribbon wrapped around it.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts    The Pearls are from Want2Scrap

I have used several of the papers from the  "Hey There Baby" collections to show how they can mix and match with each other.

The sentiment has been printed from the Writer section on the CD which means you can add in anything that you would like to personalise your design.

The card to the right has used the  "Hey Baby Boy" collection and the papers are so fresh and some of my favorites.

With the addition of  Flowers, Ribbons and Pearls from my "Stash"  I have got some very pretty cards to send for any occasion in the card making calendar.

I have kept the cards easy to assemble so that you can see the beautiful papers that are available on the CD ... which is well worth buying even if you don't win the copy that I have.

Patchwork Card

I hate to throw away pretty paper and I always think if it is big enough to make a flower then I will keep it... and I do make lots of flowers.  But this is a little different.

Making a  Patchwork Card  is really easy and will utilise more of those scraps.

There have been several ideas over the last few days to make use of them all and this is another.

The squares on this card are not very big, about 5cms,  but once added together they can look really effective.

The papers are from a CD from Funky Hand and the centre of the flowers is a brad.

The butterfly is acetate and the trail, and the Faux Stitching are created with a Sakura pen.

Try mimicking a real quilt when you make the card for a really special look.

But this is the simple and easy variation if you are new to cardmaking.

Paper Weaving

This little technique will use up all your left over strips of paper and as long as the colours blend then you can use any patterns that you have in your "Can't throw away" box .... Yep I have one of those too.

And although it says Paper Weaving  this can also work well with ribbons for a really pretty effect.

These papers and the Owl are from the  Papercraft Factory CD from Funky Hand and I have added
some Googly eyes to the character.

There are several collections of papers on the CD and they are suitable for any kind of card that you want to make.

You will also find downloads available on their website ... so they are yours instantly you have gone through the checkout.

Bespoke Envelopes

Yesterday I showed you some wordbooks made using  the CD's from Funky Hand.

But once you have made this project you may be wondering how you are going to send it to the recipient.

Well ! the best way is to make an envelope especially for it ... because until you have decided on the word you want to use ... then you won't know how big the envelope needs to be.

Making your own envelopes means you will be able to get one that fits any size or shape that you want.
And you can make them in any colour that suits your scheme.

Bespoke Envelopes will show you how to create them in easy steps and you will never be short of an envelope again .

Word Books

Another easy to create book that can be for lots of occasions.  These are some that I have made for my family and friends over the years and they are all made from CD's from Funky Hand

This is one that has proved to be extemely popular and I have been asked to make this several times.

They are very easy to create and as long as the word you want is not too long then you will have no trouble with them at all.
The video instructions to make them can be found  Here  ... but you will also find full instructions on the CD's and the downloads.

A very pretty project to do and you can add all the embellishments that you have from your "Stash"
