2 Cards from 1 die ... really pretty !!

Hi Everybody,

Today I am using an old die that some of you may already have too.

These where very popular a few years ago and created beautiful weaving backgrounds for you.

There are two dies to get the weaved look but for today's card I am using just one the
 Classic Weaving Die.

The Distress Oxide background is one we have done before but I really like the soft look that comes with Broken China, Shaded Lilac and Cracked Pistachio

Using what would be the waste is an economical way to get the two cards and can be done with lots of dies that you may have.

If you have these dies sat at the back of a cupboard then it is time to get them out again to give his a try. That way you get your monies worth from what is not a cheap investment

Tuesday Tutorial - Tapestry

Hi Everybody,

Todays tutorial is making this pretty card with the Tapestry background panel from Spellbinders.  Many of you may have this die already in your collection and it makes a very pretty panel for your cards

Supplies:

From #7 Matting basics A cut two panels in white to create the base

From #7 Matting Basics B cut a colored layer

From #6 Matting Basics A cut another layer in white and emboss this panel

Layer these panels together to the base card

From Tapestry cut one panel in white card and trim to fit another colored layer  from #6 Matting Basics B for the front of the card

(The smallest die in any Spellbinders pack is #1)

Spray the white detailed panel with adhesive and sprinkle with fine glitter

Then add it onto the colored layer with foam tape in the larger areas to cover it

Add more foam tape to the back of these two pieces and wrap the panel with ribbon

Cut the Spiral Blossom One from felt and coil it to create the flower.

Add ribbon and feathers to the base of the flower before adding it to the card front

Add in the sentiment of your choice to suit the recipient and add both to the card in the position you want them.

A very easy card to make for those moments when you need something quick and pretty

Friday Freebie Card 012

Hi Everybody,

So here we are back to normal after a wonderful holiday and the start of the Friday Freebie  again.

This one is created in the hinged card style and has lots of embossed layers, and the lovely  Quatrefoil pattern   in the panel.

I bought mine from Sunrise Crafts and the link will take you to the die

The pretty flowers are   from Wild Orchid Crafts and they have been sparkled with Glitter Magic.

Glitter Magic were at the Craft Show at the Bolton Arena that I went to on Sunday and I asked Sharon which of the glitters it is that I always use and it is called ... Chameleon

It gives a lovely sparkly effect to the petals and is something I like to do to most of my flowers.

The ribbon was in a pack from TKMaxx and the lace is from my "Stash"

But on top of the lace I have added in some Diamante for added luxury and that is from Want2Scrap

So if you would like to win this card then all you have to do join the growing list of followers  and leave me a comment at the end of the post.

Then later this evening Griff will choose a name from the hat and the winner will be announced in the morning on this Blog and also on Facebook.

Please come back and check for your name as if you have won you will only have 48 hours in which to claim it. I am happy to send the card anywhere.

But don't add your name if you are not going to be able to check it as the last card Card 011 was won by Millie Thomson and it was not claimed

Craft Show Ribbon

Hi Everybody,

Here is the first card with my craft show goodies on it and it is the pretty gingham ribbon  from  Mei Flower

It is so soft and easy to tie and there are 25 yds on each roll.  I bought it in pink pale blue and turquoise  ...  so lots to keep me going.

The panel is once again using the Tied Together embossing folder.

I have been asked where I got mine from and it was Sunrise Crafts

But this is an embossing folder that sells out rapidly each time it is featured and so at the moment it is out of stock.   As soon as it is available again I will let you know.

The sentiment is from Crafters Companion

Another of my buys is the fine glitter on the flowers.  It is a lot more subtle than the one I usually use but both are from   Glitter Magic   and the flowers are from  Wild Orchid Crafts

Layered Scalloped Posy

 Hi Everybody,

This pretty pink card has layers at the top of the panel that have been  created from several labels dies

The sentiment is from the Sentimentals by Crafters Companion

They are a good collection as there are lots of sentiments on one sheet of stamps and they cover all different subjects.

I added the video to explain how to use  these stamps as they come to you in just a gray rubber.

And of course they won't stick to any kind of stamping block until you work on them.

So if you missed the video ... or you already have un mounted  stamps like these and don't know how to use them ... here is the link ... Mounting Your Stamps

Back to the card ... my beautiful flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts    and are a mixture of Roses and Sweetheart Blossoms.

They have been given the sparkly touch with fine glitter from  Glitter Magic

The matching pearls for Labels 23 are from Want2Scrap

The ribbon is some that I already have ... and it is this ribbon that I share with you whenever I have a "Give Away"

The embossing folder in the top panel is called  Tied Together ... and the inside of the card is using the   Filigree Corner and both are available from Sunrise Crafts.

And now for some boxes ...

Hi Everybody,

A question  I am often asked is ... how do  I send my cards with so much  height on them

The best and  safest way is to make a box for it and decorate it to compliment the card.

I realise that this may be the  costliest way to send the card especially  through the post.

But if you make a card that is beautiful then  it has to be worth the protection.

This card has lots of flowers from  Wild Orchid Crafts  and they have been sparkled with fine glitter from  Glitter Magic

The pearls are from Want2Scrap  and Sunrise Crafts have the Quatrefoil Pattern die  which is part of the background

So here is a video on making boxes for the US A2 sized cards that I have been covering just lately.

It can be adapted to make a box for any sized card that you make though so make use of the tips when you create your own cards.

And there are other videos on different ways to make different sized boxes on the website ...  Cardmaking Tutorials

And don't forget to make use of your Acetate for the lids too.

This one has been made from some very pretty embossed Acetate that I have in my  "Stash" and it creates a whole luxury look for any of your cards.

I am being asked a lot about the sentiments I use and the one on this card is from Crafters Companion and is one of the Sentimentals Range

There are several different sets for you to choose from so read them and see which one you prefer.

A2 Filigree Delight

Hi Everybody,

For this card I thought I would stay away from flowers and ribbons and keep it more suited to a male theme.  I have filmed the making of it.

But I had to add in some pearls otherwise it would have been too plain.

For the card to the right I have added in the Quatrefoil Pattern in the oval space and I bought mine from  Sunrise Crafts

The addition of some flowers would change the look of the card totally

This is just a very simple idea for the Filigree Delight

But there is so much more you can do with it .. and indeed all the A2 dies that I have been showing you over the last few days.

On both of these cards I have placed some of the pearls from Want2Scrap

The sentiments for each are from the Sentimentals Range from   Crafters Companion

It's all white ...

Hi Everybody,

A card that is very simply an A4 cut  in half and a hinge added at the top giving me lots of space to dress it.

I have used the Tied Together embossing folder from Sunrise Crafts  and this is a folder that sells out time and time again.

The flowers are from a stamp from   Stamps by Chloe and the centres are little pearl clusters from Wild Orchid Crafts

But what I would like you to take a closer look at is the edge...

This is created using one of the Stitches dies from Tattered Lace  ... and there are six different stitches in the set

They make a very pretty look and as I use the others in the set I will be sure to show you.

And they save all that messing  about with a ruler and a Poky tool trying to get the edges straight and the corners to line up correctly .... pain!.

This will give to a  quick, clean and straight edge to your cards.

Gold Elements ...

Hi Everybody,

I have used the coffee coloured Centura Pearl  from Crafters Companion on this card and mixed it with white.

There's not a lot of extras on this card ... just the single rose from Wild Orchid Crafts   and the pearls "Bling" from Want2Scrap

The white satin ribbon is from Mei Flower and it makes lovely bows.

There are lots of layers and each layer has been raised with foam pads.
The embossing folder is an M-Bossabilities from Spellbinders and this is the Whimsical Floral.

These folders are usable on both sides and the other side will be different and so you get twice as much for your money.

The inside is lined with ribbon around the layers and the pearls added to enhance the ribbon.

3-D Folder ...

Hi Everybody,

I bought the 3-D M-Bossabilities at the GNPE and I promised to show you what it looked like once made up.

It is called Roman Romance and I think it is lovely and you can see the pattern at the bottom of the card.

I have added large pearls under the ribbon and a Wild Orchid Crafts   flower to the centre of the bow.

And just one of the flowers can make all the difference.
I can't show you a list of the dies used but the lacy top to the card was produced by the  Becca Feeken  Filigree Corner  from Sunrise Crafts ... the link will take you to the die.

The ribbon is some I bought at another crafts show.

I have made a triple bow with tails and the tutorial Using a Bow Maker will show you how I did it.

And the bow makers are available in My Shop
The inside of the card is lined and embossed .

Have you added your name to the list to win the Wild Orchid Crafts flowers yet???

Here is the link  and you have two chances to win some gorgeous blooms.

All the instructions are there for you so Good Luck !!

Pretty in Blue ...

Hi Everybody,

This lovely Cornflower Blue card is made to the Hinged Card Style  and is one that I have added to my Etsy Shop.

The white background to the card is a new die called Exquisite Labels Eleven and I bought mine from Sunrise  Crafts  and it is beautiful

I have topped it with the plain Labels Eleven and intertwined it with Twisted Metal Tags.

The pearls are from Want2Scrap
The inside has been decorated too and the Diamante buckles are some that I bought from the GNPE and they are from    The Hobby House

The lovely wide striped Grosgrain ribbon was also form the craft show but I cannot for the life of me remember which  stall I got it from.

I love this fresh clean blue and  white combination and it would be suitable for any occasion.
